Canção de uma Terra Seca is a vibrant and rhythmically exciting piano duet for four hands, inspired by two powerful dance traditions from Northeast Brazil: Maracatu and Baião. Highly energetic, percussive, and full of colour, the piece gives both pianists the opportunity to explore rich polyrhythmic textures while still shaping lyrical and expressive musical lines.

The music combines driving rhythmic layers, syncopation, and a strong sense of groove with moments of melodic beauty and contrast.
